portretLeon van Liere (1978) began studying classical singing in 2004 with Frans Huijts at Codarts, the Rotterdam Conservatoire. In 2009 he obtained his bachelor degree and continued his master studies in the same year with the same teacher. He received lessons and master classes from Max van Egmond, Roberta Alexander, Carolyn Watkinson, Bart De Kegel, Vinson Cole, Udo Reinemann, Dennis O’Neill, Rudolf Piernay and Rudolf Jansen.

Leon regularly performs as a tenor soloist in masses and oratorios with choir and in recitals. The repertoire spans from Baroque music to Romanticism and contemporary compositions. He has worked with conductors like Philip Pickett, Hans Leenders, Beni Csillag, Wiecher Mandemaker, Benjamin Bakker, Pim Overduin and Gilles Michels.

Leon is active as an ensemble singer: he sings in the Laurenscantorij Rotterdam and the Laurens Collegium Rotterdam conducted by Wiecher Mandemaker. He regularly sings with ensembles like PA'dam conducted by Maria van Nieukerken, Capella Isalana conducted by Klaas Stok and the Dutch Radio Choir.
